Q: What has been your most satisfying moment in business? The most satisfying moment in my business is teaching grown men in prison how to respect themselves first, find solutions to problems and implement strategies to become part of the solution. JCG contracts with prisons to offer life skills, substance abuse and reentry skills programs to offenders who have an identified need. I witness their growth during the process. Watching grown men implement strategies to change is humbling to say the least. Now, I coordinate a federal program enabling offenders to repay their debt to society by participating in an offender employment program. As a change agent, it’s strategy that influence the way people think about inmates. Inmates must be a part of the change and feel like they are contributing back to the community they left sober. Therefore, the program my brand coordinates deducts mandatory percentages from their earnings for victims’ families, state and federal taxes and room and board. I am intentional to build momentum by reaffirming offender relationships and building new relationships with the community through coordinated efforts. Yes, satisfying moments are consistent with my business.

Q: What’s the most important business lesson you’ve learned? The most important business lesson I’ve learned was to honor my word and move with my heart. My word is my brand; therefore, honoring my word establishes lifelong partnerships.

Q: Entrepreneurs and business owners have the tendency to be workaholics? How do you overcome burn out? This is a great question because I experienced burnout to avoid going home when I was married. To compensate burnout, I emotionally over-ate, consumed more alcohol and I was anxious and depressed. Are you aware that your body keeps score of traumatic events? My body was tired. Q: What’s been the most memorable client that your company has served/partnered/collaborated with? First, let me say how proud I am of my client, she did the work and the results followed. When I met my client, she was broken internally. She was in an unproductive relationship that drained her mentally and physically, unfilled with her employment and lacked confidence. During the coaching sessions she was authentic with her situation and willing to make the changes by doing the work. Within the year, she left the relationship, had a grandchild, and was promoted twice on her job. The process guarantees the product, it’s not the other way around. She did the work!

Q: If you can do over something in the past, what will it be and why? Wow! Immediately, I would not have waited 16 years to leave an abusive marriage. I had broken consciousness meaning I lacked awareness and confidence within myself. I was so broke; I normalized all abuse. Therefore, when I left the marriage, I was ready to do the work to become whole as GOD sees me. My motto is Marry the Process and Divorce the Outcome.

Q: How did the idea for your business come about? The idea for my business was influenced from my three (3) children. Their childhood was not ideal at all, they survived a toxic marriage and divorce. My children are my HEROS. During the divorce, Jailon (my daughter 25) graduated from college with honors, Christian, (my oldest son 21) was offered 28 division 1 basketball offers his senior year of high school and during COVID-19. Garrison (my youngest son 13) continued to explore his way through life. JCG is named after Jailon, Christian & Garrison: (JCG) Consulting & Coaching Firm LLC. They’re worthy to have a legacy of their own because they’ve earned it.

Q: What motivates you? What motivates me is GOD gave me another chance to be great. For sixteen (16) years, I withheld my true self because my ex-husband would judge me. I don’t have to worry about that anymore. I am FREE to be ME!
Q: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur? I would say the TOP 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur are active listening, patience, and strategic planning.
Q: What entrepreneurial tricks have you discovered to keep you focused and productive in your day-to-day busy schedule? Well, I wouldn’t call it tricks rather than intentional time with GOD. GOD must be the first person I talk to in the morning. His guidance through devotional reading allows me to perform when I have great days and not so great days.

Q: Who has been your greatest inspiration? My daughter graduated from high school May 2016. My mother flew from Oakland, California to Atlanta, Georgia to celebrate her only granddaughter’s major milestone. Mama was scheduled to be in town for 3 days; unfortunately, 3 days turned into forever. Mama had an accident at my home resulted with an injury to her spine prohibiting mama from EVER walking again. Within seconds, mama transitioned from 100% independent to 100% dependent. Today, the courage Mama displays is amazing. My mother is my greatest inspiration; she is strong, smart, and sexy.

· I enjoy working out
· I love public speaking but I’m an introvert and large crowds I intentionally avoid (when I am not working)
