What inspired you to start your own business? I’ve been in love with weddings and celebrations for as long as I can remember. In an effort to spend more time with my young children, I started a wedding planning business. However, I knew that in order to make it successful it was going to take more than a hand full of confetti. I wanted to be the best of the best, so I enrolled in a certification course that taught me all about logistics and how the intricate details of a celebration actually flow together.

Who are your ideal clients? My ideal clients are busy professionals that believe in excellence, high attention to details and hard work. In other words, our clients expect nothing but the best when it comes to planning a celebration for their family, friends, and colleagues. that have a special occasion approaching and they would like to celebrate.
Given the economic condition, health crisis, and the mandatory temporarily closing of thousands of businesses, how are you coping with the pandemic & how have you shifted to help service your brides to be and corporate events on your 2020 calendar? This pandemic has been tricky for all of us and especially our brides and clients that were planning to celebrate other momentous occasions this Spring and Summer. We’ve switched to weekly virtual meetings with all of our clients to discuss rescheduling, but most of all to check in with them and let them know that we care. It helps to have someone to vent to that truly understands all of the emotions and hard work that goes into planning a celebration. We’ve also shifted our social media calendar to include training for new planners that may not be equipped to deal with all of these sudden changes.
Good Tidings strives to represent authentic beauty and sustainable fashion by working with local Navajo style artists and vintage materials for our Turquoise Jewelry and other accessories.
As a business owner faced with a sudden calamity, what new revelations did you discover and will likely implement to catastrophic proof your business? I realized that as fool proof as I thought my contract was… it didn’t cover EVERYTHING. We have updated our contract and will have it reviewed at the end of each year. My team and I will also start using a web-based service to ensure that everyone has access to the same images for social media. Lastly, the employee production manual will be completed by July 2020.

When the dust settles, what will be the first thing that you'll do and why? I’m taking my team out for dinner and drinks. The team quickly adapted to new/flexible work hours and virtual meetings. We were all hit pretty hard with cancellations and rescheduling of events, but we all stuck together and hung in there.
