CityBox: Hi Vanda, your personal journey is incredibly striking, who inspired you and why?
Vanda: The legends; Christian Dior, Coco Channel & Yves Saint Laurent in every way. They all went beyond fashion & trends. They moved ideas into new ways of thinking and dressing; each collection honored something special. Nothing is passé, it is still that forever classic that I just love. Christian Dior was a designer, it was what he founded as DIOR that expresses sophistication and influence, but it was Albe, my mother, who inspired me to be who I am, and to go beyond and within. In today’s fast paced world, I am inspired to celebrate and share this Inner Beauty that has no season, yet honors the heart of true haute couture. Being a spiritual warrior, activates me, the designer, to illustrate BEAUTY, LOVE and each Ray of Light. Today, I see that the couturier within me expresses my desire to be extra ordinary this time leaving the details to God, and following these legends to create true beauty inspired by MY HIGHER SELF.

Q: How do you balance your professional career, motherhood and building your empire?
Most of the time, I feel only balanced when I am breathing. If it’s not flowing for me, it’s out of balance.
I can only do this by keeping the pace with what I want to accomplish and create. My tools are my gold, they help me keep it all real, so I do my work! I honor my cycles and flow with the universe. I only create what I love and choose to do. I love to see people happy, so I’ve learned how to balance that out in my world. Easier thought than executed, that’s for sure; especially as an intuitive creative mind. Again, there’s no way I could have felt the core of this journey without my tools. Feeling good and like myself is my rule. I teach that to everyone I work with; my loved ones and our team, the people that make this all happen. My family and my team know my heartbeat, it’s my thread of life that feeds me.
Being a mother is my gift, an honor, and privilege. I stay balanced by knowing these souls chose me and they have their own gifts, their own life and journey ahead. This empire, well …that all started by surrendering to my Higher Good and honoring myself, but it took a while to do that. What got me here is my foundation and following my intuition and divine trust in God. FOCUS, BELIEF & WORK ETHIC comes with that of course. It was getting out of balance with what I thought was me, that was the gift to communicate my greatest work ever, and it’s the gift I give back to those in search to be in balance with the universe.
How I balance this vast tapestry that I have created as my life, well sometimes I wonder myself to be honest when it all gets crazy (but good) and when it is all unfolding simultaneously, I remember I created it. This way I can handle it too then I breathe it all in… I LOVE IT ALL. I LOVE WHAT I DO. When there is LOVE, there’s understanding, and it just unfolds from that divine thread that it is all going to be good because it feels that way. I have my agreements with God, how can they not be right?

Q: What have you sacrificed?
Well, my old habits, my time, and aspects & perceptions of myself. It transcends though. In time, you let go of what is a sacrifice and it becomes more what you know. Being present, has been the greatest piece to connect and bridge it all. Especially since I am an energy worker, so that requires me to be me. I have learned to choose not to need. Every stage of growth has its own intention and its own energy, as I am ready, each stage shows up for me.

Q: As female leader, what has been the most significant barrier in your career and how did you overcome it?
Surrendering to my worth! To being ME. Every day I rise into it. As women, we give up our sacred energy too quickly, so as a whole it becomes an everyday job and responsibility. TO BE A WOMAN, expresses one of my passions. Hence the book, the work and the essence of each ray of light that we carry within.
It is Me that has to be ME. I can’t overcome that. I have to be it.

Q: What fuels your drive?
Going beyond belief and touching that space within you and the soul. That’s pure addiction right there! I call it Soulva.
Q: What exciting project are you working on & what is it about?
TO BE INTERNATIONAL, this project was birthed from the decade of work with TO BE A WOMAN, a book that inspires transformation and self-awareness. Noted as a “Night Stand Treasure” by Chicago tribune. It has done its rounds from the United Nations, to Unicef, The Emmys, Oscars but mostly into the hearts of those in tune to be more of themselves.
We are launching an INSPIRING LIFE CHANGING GLOBAL CAMPAIGN through each Chamber of Commerce on the 8th of March, 2021 for International Woman’s Day! This is very exhilarating as the ripple effect of this is humongous and timely. It will unite and bring forth a collaboration of artists to represent each country’s rich diverse culture. I know this will be done right as we awaken the love and respect for each culture through art and the gift it brings us all. It will have an International corridor program that will start with the South African Chamber of Commerce USA. It can be accomplished; it will take many rays of light to make it work. I believe we can!

Q: What are the lessons you have gained that have profoundly shifted your professional path?
Huge lessons of course, too many to mention, however, none as failures as each created enough contrast to effectively help me BE DELIBERATE to create what I truly want. So, the lesson if there is any, is to go for what you want and don’t settle for what others can’t see.
Q: What is one thing you know about women and work you wish you had known earlier in your career?
Dimming your inner light is not the way to go. The other big one is, it is important to have more than one best friend. Remembering that the unkindness and the “jealousies” are all distortions and they take away from us all, especially as little girls growing up competing vs celebrating each unique future goddess of the world. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN GIFTS, and everyone has their own beauty, it is not your job to make them shine.

Q: Favorite spots to frequent for business connections in Atlanta and why?
There are so many, it all depends who you are connecting with and why right? Nothing like closing a deal where it all started for me than at 10 Degrees South. I LOVE Le petite Maison who invokes The French in you to inspire. The Globe Hub, a vibrant, tech atmosphere for a new client start up and to see those planes take off reminds you that every dream is possible. The elegance of the St. Regis never gets old. But…I have to be honest, our space CAFÉ I AM at The VANDA HOUSE is a gorgeous, white canvas that just touches your soul as soon as you walk in. Best coffee and food in town and it is just filled with the essences and presence of something really special and it starts with YOU.
Q: Five Favorite skin care products & Fragrance by DIOR
J’adore, J’adore, J’adore, do you need any other? I went through a patch earlier with sun discoloration, Dior Snow was awesome, it helped very much. The Dior J’adore Gold jelly, The Nail serum, I had forgotten about that, a must have, especially in dry seasons. I do prefer The Abricot Crème though and you might as well add the Universal lip, Rouge Dior. Dior Professional Dior Show and volumizing is still top of the list for sure. Reminds me to get back into having it handy, otherwise you land up grabbing what’s available and not what you want.
