ABOUT NATIONAL AFRICAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION
The National African Student Association is an umbrella organization for African diaspora youth grouped together at universities and high schools across the USA. Since inception, we have represented a growing coalition of African student groups at 60+ university campuses across the USA representing over 4000 members. Most of these members are first or second-generation Americans with African descent parents and international African youth who are temporarily here for studies. By uniting, these youth can be empowered to become leaders for the progress of the African continent and their communities in the diaspora. The opportunities and resources we work to provide will ensure they excel either socially, culturally, academically, and/or professionally. We pride ourselves with how intentional we are in our events and initiatives, where we focus on 5 core tenets: chapter development, career development, cultural awareness, transition assistance, and community service.

Q: What is your ultimate vision for your company?
Ponder on this, if someone does not respect your home, would you expect them to respect you? Whether it is in your own home or elsewhere? I doubt it. This analogy holds true for the treatment of African nations and its people. Without due reverence given to African countries on a global scale, black individuals across the world will continue to encounter uncomfortable situations and prejudice simply based on the color of their skin. It is therefore imperative that we work towards fostering respect for African nations and their resources, and put an end to exploitation and corruption that has long plagued the continent. By building a connected network of African youth, both on the continent and in the diaspora, they can be empowered with leadership development opportunities that touch on economic, social, and cultural issues. This can ensure their voices are heard in decision-making tables for political, nonprofit, and multinational corporations - thereby shaping the future of their countries of residence. One has to ask themselves, what if our resources were not exploited? What if our leaders were not being corrupted? What if our systems regardless of industry actually worked?

Q: Who are your ideal clients?
It is the younger African diaspora generation for us. They hold the most potential for creating positive change in our society, possessing both the time and energy required to enact meaningful transformation. Despite this, many have criticized my persistent dedication to the student population, suggesting that my efforts would be better focused on industry professionals who possess greater financial resources. However, I firmly believe that these students are the key to unlocking Africa's true potential, possessing a wealth of untapped intellect that is largely underutilized and best of all, they are already connecting with each other on campuses across the diaspora. As these African descent students graduate from universities across the globe, many return to their home countries within five years, while a significant portion remains in the diaspora, all who end up ascending to positions of leadership in their respective organizations.

By fostering a connected network of African youth both on the continent and in the diaspora, we can empower these bright minds with the tools and resources necessary to effect change in their countries of residence. While industry professionals may possess greater financial resources, their time and energy are often consumed by familial obligations or rectifying previous financial decisions, leaving them with little capacity to devote to this cause. By connecting with these students while they are still in college, we can create a dedicated and passionate network that will champion the development of Africa, eradicating the fundamental issues that have long plagued the continent. The criticisms I have faced for focusing on the student population merely serve to underscore the undervalued potential of these bright and energetic minds - potential that our organization is determined to harness for the betterment of our society.
