Q: As glamorous as being an Instagram influencer looks, what are the biggest struggles you’ve found with this line of work?

The biggest struggles I face are time management. With being a full-time student, having a part-time job, and being an Instagram influencer, time management can cause many issues. My boyfriend, who is my photographer, is a full-time student and has a full-time job. I have to check his availability to align our schedules for a shoot day. I have tried to balance everything, but I stress out a lot for trying to grow too fast.

Q: As glamorous as being an Instagram influencer looks, what are the biggest struggles you’ve found with this line of work?

Prioritizing my days! When you’re an influencer, you sign up for a job that requires you to wear a lot of different hats. I am my own Creative Director, Secretary, Model, Photographer, Graphic Designer, and Business Developer. Juggling all the different roles can be tough because some days you have to put all your focus into just one or two of them, but then get left feeling like you may have dropped the ball in another area.

Q: What was the best way for you to gain your following and how do you keep them engaged with your content?

I don’t know if there was really a particular way I gained followers. Some small things that help are tagging locations, using relevant hashtags, tagging brands, getting reposted by others, and picking a specific niche. I try to keep my followers engaged by giving them what they come to my specific page for, fashion. I always pay attention to what gets the most engagement as well and tailor what I post around that.

One Question With The Catalysts® Honorees

If you were to mentor your younger version, what advice would you give yourself? I would tell my younger self to never conform or change who you are to emulate someone else. I’ve learned the importance of embracing who I am and it’s a valuable piece of advice. It’s fine to have others inspire you, but we all have a unique thumb print that makes us special. When we see successful people, we only see the “success”, we don’t know the back story of challenges and obstacles they encountered. I would encourage the younger Stella to tell her own story and be authentic, you never know how your story will encourage and uplift others. - Stella Ringer . Marketing Executive at The Coca-Cola Company
